BRM is the home of the world’s largest colony of BB/Wor rats.

Since the date of its discovery in 1974, the Type 1 diabetic model has been the topic of more than 1500 peer reviewed publications. In addition BRM developed the BBZDR/Wor rat which is an animal model of Type 2 diabetes and has been extensively studied for diabetic complications including:
