Stephen Deitz, Ph.D., Viral Immunologist

Professional Summary:

Dr. Deitz has over ten years of experience working in viral immunology and vaccine development. Previously the Biologics Manager at Cyto Pulse Sciences, Dr. Deitz was responsible for managing all laboratory operations in addition to designing, constructing, and testing new DNA vaccines for conjunction with the development of new electroporation-based vaccine delivery devices. Dr. Deitz was also project manager and lead scientist for the development of new industrial-scale, large-volume, in vitro transfection devices. Prior to Cyto Pulse, Dr. Deitz was a scientist at a start up biotech company in Charleston, SC, where he designed, constructed, and tested new adenovirus-based vaccine candidates against a number of infectious diseases. Stephen received his bachelor's degree in 1991 in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology Program at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1997, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship (virus-host interactions) at Stanford University, Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the lab of Dr. Karla Kirkegaard.
