For your virology needs, BRM can offer:

  1. Expertise in herpesviruses, parvoviruses, hepatitis viruses, vaccinia virus, measles virus and rotaviruses
  2. BSL 2 facility for housing and manipulation of animals, including surgical procedures.
  3. Individual isolators dedicated to each experiment
  4. Serological testing of animals
  5. Multiple rat models of virus-induced diabetes which can be provided at any stage of disease development
    • KRV-induced diabetes in BBDR/Wor
    • KRV-induced diabetes in LEW.1WR1
    • RCMV-induced diabetes in LEW.1WR1
  6. Design and perform experiments to test efficacy of client’s compounds in ameliorating the symptoms of diabetes induced by viruses
  7. Full necropsy including blood chemistry profiles, sectioning and H&E staining of chosen organs.

BRM employs fully trained virologists to design and implement a variety of experiments for your in vivo animal studies.

Research Director, Dr. Rebecca Tirabassi, can work with you to design experiments tailored to your needs.

All experiments are performed with biosafety level 2 (BSL 2) practices and animals are housed in individual isolators to prevent cross contamination of pathogens.

We are experts on virus-induced models of diabetes.

Dennis Guberski, the president and cofounder of the company, was one of the first investigators to describe and characterize the induction of diabetes by the rat parvovirus, Kilham’s Rat Virus (KRV).

In addition, BRM has developed an exciting new model of diabetes induction after infection with rat cytomegalovirus (RCMV).
